While this is a TV play on the surface, it is just as relevant for the embedded music services. What’s more likely to have top billing on the Amazon set-top? GPMAA? iTunes Radio? Or Spotify….Come on now. Connect the dots on the future play. When talking about commodities, (yes music streaming services are commodities) it all comes down to distribution. And this is a huge strike against Apple and Google.

Here’s the music highlight from the WSJ: “The Wall Street Journal reports that the world’s largest online retailer will release a set-top box that will stream online video to your TV. The device is code-named “Cinnamon,” and will have apps for playing games and streaming video and music from other companies, not just Amazon, according to the WSJ. It will be released for the holiday shopping season.
