There is an interesting philosophical and legal debate emerging about the nature of playlists. On the surface, it looks like a simple lawsuit from Ministry of Sound against Spotify. But think about this. Why would Rdio play ball but not Spotify? And how much of the decision is influenced by the upcoming Daisy/ MOG celebrity curated lists? How different is a taste-maker’s list than a compilation CD? I mean, what else is a compilation CD other than a curated playlist from an authority on the subject….
